Mutualist Blog: Free Market Anti-Capitalism

To dissolve, submerge, and cause to disappear the political or governmental system in the economic system by reducing, simplifying, decentralizing and suppressing, one after another, all the wheels of this great machine, which is called the Government or the State. --Proudhon, General Idea of the Revolution

At C4SS: When the Government Promises It Won't Abuse Its Powers, It's Lying

This whole "security" thing is all a big farce, I swear to god. I recently heard on some radio show that DHS might end up putting body scanners in marinas and subway stations. If that's true, I swear the public transport systems will lose a lot of revenue.

Good article. It kind of reminds me as to why I became an anarchist in the first place. About a year and a half ago, when I was going to school in California, I was involved in a lot of anti-war, pro-Palestinian rights, anti-corporate groups like ANSWER. But then I started realizing that there's no use - to use a really, really informal analogy - to put new seats in your car if the car itself is messed up beyond repair. Likewise, there's no point in campaigning for "socialist" bureaucrats or continuing with all these little "boycott Israel" stunts if the state is an inherently illegitimate institution which is always going to screw people over regardless of who's in power. That's why I became so disillusioned when other activists tote things like, "Just vote for Nader/the Green Party and they'll fix all the problems the system has created!" It doesn't matter *who* is in power, or what *kind* of state you're dealing with; the power structure remains the same.
