Mutualist Blog: Free Market Anti-Capitalism
To dissolve, submerge, and cause to disappear the political or governmental system in the economic system by reducing, simplifying, decentralizing and suppressing, one after another, all the wheels of this great machine, which is called the Government or the State. --Proudhon, General Idea of the Revolution

You forgot (but how can anyone ever really forget), everyone's favorite example of how the people control the government. Yes, the big one (700 billion big): TARP! 700 billion dollars given to the bankers, all long before the Supreme Court ruling.
I remember hearing that letters/phone calls/emails to congress were coming in massively against TARP. Well, guess what, it doesn't matter what we think, we got it anyway. We also got on auto industry bailout that the people were against (all long before the Supreme Court ruling). The people also routinely poll as against the Iraq war (and keep electing one Democratic bozo after another trying to end it) and yet it continues.
That said I do think the Supreme Court decision will be disastrous in it's results. I'd like to think that things couldn't get any worse, but they can! And I really don't want to see if worse ends up being better (by leading to widescale revolt or something, despite an extremely passive electorate). But I guess I'm fated to live in interesting times.
